Meron bang member dito sa TF availing of Balikbayan Program for their kids? Ang anak ko is 3.5 yo, I have to go to Manila for quite awhile. Indian national.

What to do? I asked na Embassy by fax, pero wala pang reply

Here’s the program primer http://www.philippine-embassy.de/ra9174.pdf
As far as i understood it - you and your foreign born child is entitled - so perhaps your child can avail of the one year visa-free entry to the philippines…

As far as I know, if you arrive together with your kids or any of your immediate family automatic 1-year visa ang stamp sa passport ng anak mo. If you’re going to stay there for more than a year I recommend you apply a dual citizenship for your kid. That’s what i did for my daughter when we stayed their for 2 years. Kasi kung hindi after that first year, 2-mos. extension lang ang ibibigay sa kanya ng immigration sa atin (worth around P2,000) .biro mo yun kada 2-mos. renew ka ng renew ang gastos na stressful pa pumunta sa immigration office. Anyway, i applied for a dual citizenship for my daughter (costs around P10,000) got it within 3 months. Hope this info helps you.

Oh my, 2000 pesos every 3 months? Grabe naman yan …
Not planning to stay for more than a year though.

What about permanent residence status? Any idea?

I tried applying for a permanent residency visa for my hubby too (the same time I applied a dual for my daughter) we got as far as submitting all the necessary papers- kaya lang the waiting period for the interview was taking so long, hindi na niya nahintay, bumalik na kami dito.

Well, if you’re not staying for more than a year, then I guess, you don’t need to apply for an extension.

BTW, yung dual citizenship pala, hindi naman ilalagay sa passport ng anak mo it’s on a piece of paper. All you have to do is show that paper/certificate together with the passport upon arrival sa NAIA. Japan doesn’t allow dual citizenship either, (if I remember right, the person has to choose which nationality she wants to carry upon reaching age 20).

Thanks Liza_K.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Hotcake, does your child hold a Japanese passport? If so, the Japanese Government is quite protective of their nationals lalo na kung minor - yong anak ni Makulit is an Indian national if I am not mistaken - so as long as she has permission from the Philippine Immigration - then the Japanese Immigration won’t have a say - The only thing is, make sure the child has a valid Re-entry permit to Japan the next time she comes back (Is she the one coming back soon?).

thanks v_wrangler, hotcake.

:order::grrr:

isang linggo na akong naghihintay ng kasagutan sa tanong. embassy is suppose to assist people like me di ba?

v_wrangler

10-28-2005, 02:01 PM

The embassy is famous for its telephone system. If you are lucky to get through the operator - ask the local line to the Assistance to Nationals Office before saying you want to be patched to the Assistance to Nationals. Para the next time you call and you get the automated reply, you can dial yourself. …

Hello good day to you makulit,

I just want to remind you, :halo: All Saints/Souls Day are approaching. Maybe you forgot, The Embassy of the Philippines avail or really celebrate those days.:yesyes: My friend, I think they’re in " H O L I D A Y S " now. Please just keep trying to phone and send fax to them. If there is no response, then you have to wait next week, maybe on Monday. But then, it will be November 1st, for sure  “WALANG TAO SA OPISINA”. Simula na ang “Long Holidays” :band: nila.

 Good luck! Like some of the TF members said, “as long as your kid has (dependent) visa?” Don’t forget to get her "Re-entry visa to Japan.

Hope u don’t mind, since you have time to check (thru Internet), why don’t u try to log-in in “Indian Embassy”. From there you can check, that if u are an" Indian Citizen, what country/ies are you (your kid) allowed to visit w/o (needing) a Visa/Tourist Visa?" Then, since u said that you bought your ticket (for sure) in an Agency, maybe you forgot, Agency can help/apply to get you a " Tourist Visa" for (you) your child. Why don’t u ask them for help? Why don’t you tell your situation now?

I hope, this will help you. Relax and  i hope everything will be fine. Good luck and have a nice trip to the Philippines.

hi dstar. thanks.

i know that my daughter needs a visa and i applied for her visa a couple times already. visa is very expensive, it is something that i dont really like to spend on.

but i read about balikbayan program and its very clear na pwede nga as per embassy website. but then again, i’d like to have confirmation from them.

they have office on sunday so i will call on that day. if they are still unable to reply to me, then i dont have an option but to apply for the visa again …

regarding agencies, i dont know which agency that you are talking about, pero normally they dont process visa and my agent doesnt do these things. chaca i dont have any problem naman taking care of the visa myself. gusto ko lang malaman talaga kung pwede nga ba sa balikbayan program.

regarding reentry permit. yup, may reentry permit sya.

anyways, thanks again. i’ll take care of things, i will make sure that i will not have any problem. i dont like problems …

Non Filipino spouses and unmarried non-Filipino children of Filipino Nationals or Former Filipino Nationals who are categorized as “Balikbayans” under Republic Act 6768 shallenjoy the privilege of a no-visa entry and stay for up to one (1) year in the Philippines.

  1. The last name of Filipino parent should be the same as that of his/her children;
  2. Filipino parent must travel with his/her children
  3. Alien family members should possess a round-trip ticket
  4. Filipino parent should inform the Immigration Officer that they wish to avail themselves of the Balikbayan Program.

Hi Hotcake! Thanks!

I was able to contact our embassy. Walang daw kasing reciprocal agreement between India and Philippines. So bukas, punta ako ng embassy to apply for visa.
