Good evening to all.
I am planning to buy a new computer this week, dahil etong ginagamit ko ngayong 8 years ago ko nabili(compaq 8 giga).super bagal na kasi.
Wala akong alam sa computers, can some one help me kung ano ang mga dapat i-consider. For computer games and downloading files, and gusto ko ring kasing ilipat sa DVD ang mga 8mm na video tapes ng daughter ko. my budget is ¥150,000.
any suggestions PLEASE. :frowning:

Hi cyclops,

it really depends on what you’re gonna use your computer for. if you’re gonna use it for anything other than heavy gaming, get a mac. it’ll give you less headaches and a more fun computing experience. feature per feature, they’re not more expensive than other PC brands as is the common misconception. editing movies and making DVDs is so easy with iMovie ( and iDVD ( which is included in the bundled iLife ( software. you can even make your own soundtrack with GarageBand ( which is also included.

the new 17-inch iMac G5 ( 25pLtng/ . is selling for 157,290 yen (146,280 yen with educational discount).

if you want to know more or ask questions about macs, go to ( or Philmug ( a lot of new mac users and switchers got their answers there.

If you want to save as much yen as you can, then go for a brand new Celeron 2.8 Ghz from PrimePC or Sofmap for only less than 40T yen. Then request a relative of yours to send you software from the Philippines (read: pirated); but make sure they’re very much disguised to avoid problems. Sure, that’s very naughty advice, but if you want to save the extra yen for other peripherals such as a DVD burner, printer etc., then it can be worth considering.

Roy, Paul, daddy b:
thank you very much sa inyo.

hi cyclops,

finally, kailangan mo ng dvd writer, kung gusto mong i-record sa dvd ang mga videos. maraming mga bagong PC ngayon ang merong dvd writers pero hindi lahat (although i assume most new PCs have dvd-rom). the good thing about the mac is that you can do all this painlessly. yan ang forte ng mac, multimedia at dvd burning.

kung windows naman ang gamit mo, the next best thing is sony vaio, dahil multimedia din ang focus ng sony. personally, i would’t get either imac or sony dahil ang ginagawa ko lang naman sa PC ay pag-surf ng internet at kung ano-anong maliliit na bagay like most PC users.

pwede mong gawin ito for a 40K PC gaya ng suggestion ni daddy b, pero kung gusto mo talagang gumastos ng 150,000 yen, bakit hindi ka kumuha nang PC sa dell? or fujitsu or nec, they’re probably all the same.
