sa mga pagod ng magbasa ng mga thread po, take a short break and try to solve this kung di pa pagod ang isip nyo. he he he. baka meron din kayo paki share po. i love to do some puzzle or problem solving. try to post your answer and how you arrive on it, i will post also my answer in some other time kung wala pong tamang answer na naka post.

and it goes like this . . . .

you have a certain money and you decided na pumasok sa isang sabungan, there is an entrance fee of 1,000 yen and you paid it. you decided to bet all your remaining money on the game and luckily you win the game that makes your money doubled. you decided to go outside but you have to pay a 1,000 yen again for exit.

then you decided to go in keiba(horse racing), and again you pay 1,000 yen for entrance fee. you decided to bet all your remaining money again in the game and luckily you win the game and make your remaining money doubled. you decided to go outside to try other games, then you pay another 1,000 yen for exit.

before you go home, you decided to go to dog race, but then again there is an entrance fee of 1,000 yen and you paid it. you bet all your remaining money again and luckily you win and makes your remaining money doubled for the third time. its getting dark, so you decided to go home. but then again on the exit door there is a rule that you must pay 1,000 yen for your exit. so you pay it. after you pay, you notice that you have no money left. :eek:

so the question is: HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU ORIGINALLY HAVE?, OR THE MONEY YOU HAVE PAGPASOK MO NG SABUNGAN?

how to arrive with Dax answer:

let : x = original money

Sabungan

entrance = x-1,000

bet then win = 2(x-1,000) = 2x-2,000

exit = (2x-2,000)-1,000 = 2x-3000

Horse racing

entrance = (2x-3,000)-1000 = 2x-4,000

bet then win = (2x-4000) (2) = 4x-8000

exit = (4x-8,000)-1000 = 4x-9,000

Dog Race

entrance = (4x-9000)-1000 = 4x-10000

bet then win = (4x-10000) (2) = 8x-20,000

Exit >>>>dito mabubuo ang equation

(8x-20,000) - 1000 = 0

8x - 21,000 = 0

8x = 21,000

x = 21, 000 / 8

x = 2, 625 yen

Nakaka-miss algebra hehe. Actually reverse calculation lang ang ginawa ko. Mas madali ito sa ganitong klaseng problems, kaya kahit mentally.

0 yen pera nya in the end so before he left the dog race may 1,000 yen sya. Before he won may 1,000/2 siya. Before he entered the dog race may 1,000/2 + 1,000 and so on.

Money he got in the beginning =

(((((0 + 1,000)/2 + 1,000***) + 1,000)/2 + 1,000**) + 1,000)/2 + 1,000* = 2,625 yen

- before entering the cock fight

** before entering the horse race

*** before entering the dog race

Try the egg problem this way. Mas madali!

hi! so just i said i will post my answer for this problem pero ang gagaling po nina dax at crister. they got it right. saludo ko sa mathematical prowess ni crister. so the sure way to solve this kind of problem kung wala kang mathematical prowess tulad ni crister at di mo alam kung paano mag construct ng algebraic expression is thru TRIAL and ERROR. but you will try it a lot of times bago ka mag arrived sa correct answer. so the best way is to solve it in reverse manner like what dax latest post. its only a matter of addition and subtraction, so you will arrive at the correct answer 100%.
