Tax for Filipinos in Japan

Baka interested kayong basahin, balita galing sa Inquirer titled “Gov’t eyes tax on overseas Filipino workers (http://news.inq7.net/nation/index.php?index=1&story_id=10269)”:

SAYING that difficult times call for everyone to share the fiscal burden, the Department of Finance is now considering taxing the country’s modern-day heroes-Filipinos working abroad.

“They are Filipinos, therefore they have to help in efforts to ease the country’s fiscal problem,” Finance Secretary Juanita Amatong said yesterday in an interview after meeting with heads of local government units.

Amatong said the DOF was studying a proposal to restore the gross income tax on overseas Filipino workers, a possible alternative in case Congress fails to pass the main revenue-enhancement measures proposed by the executive department to ease the budget deficit.
