Anyone here play “sudoku”?

“Sudoku is a logic-based placement puzzle, also known as Number Place in the United States. The aim of the canonical puzzle is to enter a numerical digit from 1 through 9 in each cell of a 9×9 grid made up of 3×3 subgrids (called “regions”), starting with various digits given in some cells (the “givens”). Each row, column, and region must contain only one instance of each numeral. Completing the puzzle requires patience and logical ability. Although first published in 1979, Sudoku initially caught on in Japan in 1986 and attained international popularity in 2005.” (Sudoku - Wikipedia)

May example sa Wiki with solution:

Sa puzzle sa itaas may “5 6 _ 8 4 7 _ _ _” sa first column (leftmost) so kailangan nating malaman kung saan ipo-posisyon ang 1, 2, 3 at 9 in such a way na walang mado-doble sa kani-kanilang rows.
Halimbawa kung ilagay mo ang 1 sa ibaba ng 6 like this:

5 3 _
6 _ _
1 9 8

…ay dapat wala nang ibang “1” sa same row (1 9 8 _ _ _ _ 6 _ row)

Eto daw ang solution sa puzzle na yan:

5 3 4 | 6 7 8 | 9 1 2
6 7 2 | 1 9 5 | 3 4 8
1 9 8 | 3 4 2 | 5 6 7
------±-----±----
8 5 9 | 7 6 1 | 4 2 3
4 2 6 | 8 5 3 | 7 9 1
7 1 3 | 9 2 4 | 8 5 6
------±-----±----
9 6 1 | 5 3 7 | 2 8 4
2 8 7 | 4 1 9 | 6 3 5
3 4 5 | 2 8 6 | 1 7 9

Glad to see this thread! Binigyan ako ni Raiden ng Sudoku palmsize unit noong EB-USA last week. Binigyan ko ng oras noong Wednesday at nakakatuwang i-solve habang nakasakay ng tren pauwi.

ako rin, certified addict ng sudoku. ive been doing this since 2006. alam nyo rin ba ang kakuro? its like crossword puzzle but instead of letters, you`re going to plug-in numbers into the cells. nung medyo nagsawa ko sa sudoku, i shifted to kakuro. then, meron ako nabili na isang book, meron combination ng kakuro & sudoku.

sudoku, is short for “sūji wa dokushin ni kagiru” which means “the numbers must be single”. kakuro naman is short for “kasan kurosu” which means “addition across”.

pampatay oras ko rin to pag nasa train, or when waiting for person/people for an appointment.

i never considered myself good at numbers… looking at it, i thought it needs math…hahaha…stupid me!

then i met my husband who really love doing soduko… i just thought that he just loves numbers…when i was in national bookstore in phil, i saw a thin book of sudoku and i think of him so i bought it as pasalubong…

one night just recently, he was doing sudoku and though i really dont like it then, i just watched how he played… when he felt asleep, i tried 1 using a pencil because i might need some erasure…

it was not that simple at first, but would you believe i was able to answer 3 sudoku without mistakes the first time? hahaha… now, that sudoku book i bought for him, i also play…i made use of my pink colored pens so we’ll know which was mine and his…
