Ako naman nagpakulay ako last month:D.

It’s just like Japanese girls coming back from the U.S. after a long trip tend to look and act more like “American”. Maybe they just want to show off to fellow Japanese girls what they learned over there, I guess:D But that kind of attitude is not very welcomed at home by those who don’t get a chance to go there, only to arouse a great deal of jealousy among them.

It’s not a big deal coloring or highlighting hair nowadays. Hair color can accentuate or compliment ones feature, style, skin color, just to be trendy or just want a change. There’s even a hair color that is not permanet, washes off after a few hairwash if one wants to experiment on colors. I personally don’t like going to the extreme, like dying hair blonde kung Asian ka naman - hindi bagay. :nono:
Speaking of hair coloring, I need a touch up on mine and possibly a hair straightened, kasi buhok ko medyo naturally wavy and wants it to be straight. Does anyone know of a salon here in Yokohama that has English speaking staff?

What do you mean by “act more like American”? Cite an example…

Medyo hirap ipaliwanag… Iba nga ang itsura nila… makeup, accessories, speech…atbp. May time ako na na-surround ng maraming kikoku-shijo(people with experience in studying abroad, lalo na sa western countries.), mukha silang lahat ang yung mga casts ng yung american drama na may zip code ng Biverly Hills sa title nya:D

So, is ‘acting American’ good or bad?

I think it is because of 1) Economic liberty (and it is so affordable here). 2) Walang pakialaman dito, mabagay man o hindi ang kulay ng buhok mo. 3) trend

… I beg to disagree , mas grabe ang color ng hair ng mga tao sa pilipinas kahit di galing sa Japan o sa ibang country … ma pa middle class or lower class may high light ang buhok …

“When in Rome, Do what Romans Do” ika nga ni Balagtas (not really sure who coined that that phrase though)
But in moderation, not to the extreme na madadaig yung mga “Romans” no.
Here in the U.S., I act American(I’m already one anyway according to a piece of paper) if I’m interacting with Americans or other nationalities. Pero kapag kaharap ko ay Pilipino I act as a Pilipino, lalo na kapag ang kaharap ko ay yung mga bagong salta. I don’t find it satisfying to elevate myself by acting too Americanized in front of them.
With regards to hair color naman, I agree kay Stanfordmed na kung bagay naman eh bakit hindi. The keywords are if it complements your natural features. Just don’t go over board.
Personally, I prefer oriental features from occidental ones, e.g:
- Long straight jet black hair
- Almond shaped eyes
- Silky smooth fair skin
- Small to medium built curvacious bodies
I could list a lot more, kaya lang baka mamarkahang X-rated tung post ko, so I’m gonna stop now.

How about white people coloring their hair? Say, a black-haired white American dyeing her hair blonde? Or, how about black people with straight blonde hair and blue eyes?
Green? Ang sagwa tingnan! :yuck:
Personally, I prefer to keep the hair and eye colors I was born with - brownish black hair, and brownish black eyes.

LOL! Natawa ako sa question. Isa ako sa mga yan eh. LOL! Well, I lived & grew up there. Hehe. Isa yan sa mga pinagsisisihan ko… Yung buhok ko patay na sa kakakulay! Haha… :noteeth:
