Ako? syempre walang choice, diba?:stuck_out_tongue: Shikata ga nai desu kara…

He introduced me to his friend, then naging magkaibigan kami hanggang sa nagkagustuhan at nauwi sa kasalan…

I hope I answered your questions correctly.:stuck_out_tongue:

Hello Teddy
I met my husband when he took part in the YMCA workcamp in the Philippines. Like hotcake, my husband and I became friends,… fell in love,… and got married. I quit my teaching job in the Philippines and decided to come to Japan and lead a life with him…
I’ve learned to respect and understand the Japanese culture. I am lucky that I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful daughter. They understand our culture, too. Paborito nila ang chicharong baboy at sinigang…
Ang bawat bansa ay may sariling kultura kaya mahirap sigurong magkaroon ng pagkukumpara …Ang mahalaga, kahit na nasaan man tayong bansa, we should never forget our own culture…

Hi Teddy,

The first time I came to Japan I was an exchange student for a cultural exchange program.

I was impressed right away by the discipline, the cleanliness, and their punctuality , and in general- how efficient the country was in most aspects- transportation, communication, and what have you… everything was so convenient. And most of all, it was so safe to walk around, even late at nights.

There was a feeling as if ā€œI have been here beforeā€, it felt like being home.

I liked Japan and the Japanese friends I made. My homestay family was so nice to me.

But after only one month in Tokyo, I went home to Manila. Finished the remaining years in college.

My third job was with a Japanese company in Manila. I then saw how the Japanese work - work is work.
(No talking or chit-chat. No eating chips or snacks on the tables…(like in other Filipino offices, where the vendors are even allowed to sell?)
Anyway- I was impressed, amazed by their attitude towards work…

So, I decided, I will study Nihongo.
Saved up for my school fee and ticket, packed my bags, came to Japan.

Everything else followed- work in Japan, then the husband…
I was planning to go home and work for another Japanese company… but everything changed when I met my husband.

Like Hotcake and EPS - we are still here because our homes are here.

Ako naman sinubukan kong mag-take ng exam para sa scholarship ng Monbukagakusho (ā€œMonbushoā€ at that time) sa Japanese Embassy. Tapos…ayun nakapasa!

Ayun nakapasa ulit! At that point napag-contemplate na talaga ako sa gagawin ko. Kung itutuloy ko o hindi, kung ano ang advantages and disadvantages etc. and after a few weeks…napag-desisyonan kong ituloy nga, and so here I am.

I wasn’t receiving scholarship money all the time that I was a student by the way. After I finished Ninong Mon’s, I got a private scholarship, and then afterwards no scholarship at all, so I had to work while going to school for a couple of years until I graduated. Right now I’m working and trying to save for the future when I finally go home. My target is to work here for 5 years only, but I’m already working for 3 years!

  1. ć‚µćƒ¼ćƒ“ć‚¹ē²¾ē„žļ¼ćŠå®¢ę§˜ćÆē„žę§˜ć ļ¼(Serv ice-mindedness, customer = God)
  2. Generally, malinis at safe (generally kasi marami ding hindi)
  3. Generally, may disiplina ang mga tao ( - ditto -)
  4. Less politicking (nakakapagod sa Pinas puro ganito)
  5. Murang internet! And OPTIC FIBER connection pa!
  6. Other high-tech stuff
  7. ę—„ęœ¬čŖžļ¼ę¼¢å—ļ¼hehehe

Mga di magaganda dito:
(na post ko na sa ibang threads…)

p.s. Malamang marami pang members dito ang ex- o presently scholarship grantees ni Ninong Mon, especially our friends in Tsukuba.

Hi Teddy!

Unang choice ko talaga ay US since nandon lola ko and some friends kaso na deny application ko for a US visa. Kaya naman naisip ko na mag-apply na lang ng work as an English teacher dito sa Japan. Marami akong pinag-applyan: Korea, Japan at China (in that order) tapos may mga positive responses for several interviews dito kya go agad ako. I first applied as a tourist then the visa was converted into another status- specialist in humanities &int’l studies. Actually una muna, a Korean company sent me a contract but since there were many flaws and ambiguities in the contract, I begged off. Mas gusto ko sana don kasi from what I heard hindi masyadong mataas ang cost of living compared to Japan so mas makakaipon ako at isa pa naisip ko marami sigurong cuties na Koreans. Minsan kasi nakapanood ako ng Korean telenovala sa atin (Lovers in Paris). A good prospect for a bf, hehehehe. My first interview was in Tokyo and it was not as smooth sailing as I expected. Was rejected kaya go agad ako sa 2nd interview. Luckily, everything went well kaya eto na ko ngayon, been here for a little over three months.

This is especially true in the gov’t wehre I got the chance to work before. Isa pa may concept of time sila. Sa work ko, I have to be in the office 15 minutes ahead of my class, every minute counts.

One time I was browsing a book for my next class and when I flipped through the pages, I saw a short curly hair. I showed it to one of the female Japanese staffs with a smile on my face, ayun ma, she just looked puzzled. d nya gets.

Some women really show disgust to ā€œdirty jokesā€ considering it to be one form of sexual harrassment, some only try to maintain their coolness even though they really like those jokes but they just don’t want to be seen as having a dirty mind, and some don’t really mind. My wife doesn’t really mind telling those jokes ā€œin a healthy wayā€(if there’s such a way at all for dirty jokes:p). Her co-workers always tell her that they always wanted to share those jokes with other co-workers, but it’s just that the ambience in the workplace didn’t allow them to do so until she joined:D What a compliment:D

An older generation like my parents’, they would change the channels if there was a sex scene on tv in front of their kids, but kids(even kindergarten kids) nowadays are talking about sex, divorce, triangle relation, etc. everything they see on tv. Young parents don’t hasitate to talk about such things in front of their kids. Things have really changed here…for the worse:(

Noon:

Hehehe… pinadala ako as a trainee.

When I graduated college, Japan was not even on my list.
But Im here right now.
First, I think it was God’s plan.
Second I like many things about Japan so I decided to stay.
I like the way they respect each other.

Hello Teddy,

Nice thread, and hope you and your wife get the place in Greenbelt. As for me, I chose japan out of the other countries because I knew back then I would learn much here. Its because I have tougher bosses here and have to contend with a high cost of living (therefore learning the ancient science of budgetting hehehhe). Actually aside from the conveniences japan offers, I find life here boring most of the times. Thats why when my assignment is done, I want to go back to the Philippines. Japan is just a means to an end for me. When I have enough money, I will start my own company and marry my girlfriend, well if things really get well for us. Anyways yun lang po. Hope you get your dreams and me to get mine too.

Mahirap mag immigrate sa North Korea kasi.

O wala po ba kayong ibang pagpipilian?
Pinagpili-an ko… Japan or Davao?

Wala silang nag bisikleta at naka ketai at the same time… plus hinahawakan ang payong.

actually this not a choice, hindi naman ako namili or pinamili kasi, nagkataon lang na siguro this is my destiny, at salamat sa kapalaran na yon…

masyadong mahabang kwento kung sasabihin ko sa yo lahat, but this is some,… when i graduated from my college, i applied working abroad and that is middle east…after a year and a half, returned to phils. then apply to a japanese company. when i have to be scheduled for the last interview, my neighbor who happened to be a friend of mine, asked me if i’m interested going here in japan, i was surprised:confused: ā€œwhy you asked that?ā€ i replied, he said, instead of applying in that company, why not apply directly to japan? sabi ko, i don’t know nothing, not even the language, not even their culture? sabi niya madali na yang pag aralan… then nag isip ako for a while, then sagot ko, ok why not? i’ll take it. actually he asked kung kailangan mo ang gastos ,sagot ko lahat.pero meron pa naman akong savings kaya ako rin ang gumastos lahat, pero di pala ganoon kadali ang pagpunta dito 'no in fairness.
