A lot of Filipinos abroad who wish to have some sort of cosmetic surgery done would also want to have it done in the Philippines. However, with the growing number of doctors (and non-doctors) doing it but with minimal training, people are exposed to unnecessary risks.
Just recently, a Filipina balikbayan who had breast augmentation by slicone oil injection died while it was being done. Why did this happen? For one, the procedure was not done in an adequate medical facility. It was only done in an office space with no emergency equipment. Another , and more importantly, the person who did it was not even a doctor! Besides, silicone oil injection has been banned for the longest time because of its very bad complications! What they say is that its ‘collagen’ and that there are no side effects. Collagen costs about Php 20,000-30,000 per 1mL! Imagine putting in at least 200mL on each breast? That’s about 4 million pesos, per breast! And they only charge Php17,000 for that. Makes you wonder huh?
How do we avoid these? Proper education. I believe Timog Forum can be a good vehicle for people to learn about these procedures because cosmetic surgery is getting to be very popular these days. My field of specialty is general and cosmetic surgery and I would like to serve as “your expert”.

thank you for replying to my thread. you know, a good number of my patients do come from abroad and nose and breast surgeries are one of the most common procedures that i do.
with regards to prices, nose surgery or rhinoplasty would depend on a lot of factors; the type of revision needed, the type of implant to be used, the place where it is to be done (hospital or clinic) and of course the surgeon who will do the procedure. the price range would go as low as Php 18,000 and as high as Php 80,000 - 90,000.
breast augmentation would also depend on the type of implant to be used, and where it will be done. price is usually Php 120,000 on the average but may go as high as Php 180,ooo to Php 200,000.
again, i could not over emphasize that you stay away from “collagen” injections:eek: in these types of procedures. 95% of the time, its not actually collagen but silicone oil. silicone that is mixed with oil causes a lot of complications.

thank you for your inquiry.
to give you an idea on Botox, it is actually a brand name of a certain drug which is “botulinum toxin A”. it is taken from a bacteria (Clostridium botulinum) that causes temporary paralysis of muscles that you inject it to. it was originally used for other diseases such as anal fissures, certain eye muscle diseases,etc. it was later tried on muscles that cause wrinkling of the skin, such as frown lines and forehead lines. eureka! thus came the era of botox for wrinkles.
there are two kinds of wrinkles; the passive and the active wrinkles. active wrinkles are those wrinkles that are seen when you make facial expressions such as lifting your eyebrows causing forehead lines, pati na rin ang pag “kunot ng noo”. try it. :(:mad:
passive wrinkles are those that you see even without doing your those facial expressions. pag hindi mo pa tinataas ang kilay mo o kinukunot ang noo mo may wrinkles na, passive wrinkles yan.
the point is, botox is used basically for active wrinkles, para di na ikaw magform ng wrinkles. sa passive wrinkles, dermal fillers ang ginagamit dyan, although pwede pa rin ang botox dyan to prevent deepening of wrinkles.
botox lasts for about 4-6 months pero the more often you do it, the longer is the effect. yung iba 1 year.
importante dyan ay yung nagi-inject cause may side effect yan, kung hindi marunong ang nagi-inject.
napahaba ata kwento ko ah. anyway, about the dermal fillers, i have an article about it sa website ko. visit ka na rin doon to learn more about it.

actually ang better term for that is “liposculpture” dahil tinatanggal nito ang mga fat sa mga unwanted areas. di basta-bastang tinatanggal ang mga fat tissues. may mga areas din na magandang may fat at ito ang nagbibigay ng tulong sa magandang figure in total ng isang tao.
mayroon talagang mga areas na di matanggal ang fat gaano ka man kasipag mag-exercise. Ito ang isa sa mga instances na napaka-ideal na gawin itong procedure na ito.

Sorry for the late reply. Got a bit busy these past 2 days.
Anyway, smart lipo is also known as thermage. As the name implies, it uses a machine that generates heat (a laser of some sort) that is said to burn out the fat, and eventually you lose the fat. Just like mesotherapy, marami ring session yan. Price wise, its going to be more expensive than mesotherapy. Liposuction will almost cost the same as mesltherapy if you add up all the sessions you will need in meso. I will advise smart lipo for small areas of fat deposits only (ex. chin), gaya ng mesotherapy. For bigger areas gaya ng tiyan, liposuction is still the best. even on the arms, mas maganda pa rin yun.
I hope na-enlighten kita ng kaunti sa mga tanong mo. I can expain it more to you but medyo sosobrang hahaba na ito. Pero pwede mo pa naman akong tanungin kung di ka pa naliliwanagan at sasagutin ko na lang ng makakaya ko.

Talagang mahirap magtanggal ng scar sa legs. Marami rin naman tayong options. Pero ang importante ay makita ko muna kung anong hitsura at laki ng scar mo. Pati na rin yung exact location nung peklat importante rin.

The usual fee for liposuction in general is Php 40k per area. Both arms is considered as one area. This usually includes the anesthesia. In arm liposuction, we usually use local anesthesia, with sedation in some patients. Well tolerated naman ang procedure.
Sa sclerotherapy naman, ang fee niyan ay per session and not per injection. The usual fee is about Php 5k per session. In others, ang charging nila ay per syringe. Sa akin, ginagawa ko lahat ng pwede kong magawa on the first session. That way, mas less ang number of sessions na ginagawa ko compared to them. Sa iba rin, di na nila ginagamitan ng anesthesia at diretsong inject na lamang. What I do is that I apply a topical anesthetic kung saan ako tutusok para di masakit. Iba-ibang style ang mga doktor.

The number of sclerotherapy sessions will depend on your varicose veins. Kung marami at malalaki ang varicose mo, it takes more sessions. Kung maliliit naman, maskonti ang sessions. Yung iba, dalawang sessions lang okay na.
If you can maybe take pictures of your legs and send it to me, mas mabibigyan kita ng idea. Kailangan lang malinaw na malinaw ang pagkuha mo kasi mahirap makita ang varicose sa picture. A plumper and more luscious lips is definitely possible. It’s a quick procedure and relatively simple. Yes, there is a permanent and a temporary. The temporary lasts for about 4-6 months and the permanent lasts for years! Of course there is a big difference between the price of both. The permanent is almost double the price. Ang tawag dun sa gamot ay dermal fillers.
Just be careful because there are those who offer this for less than half the price but the filler that they actually use is silicone OIL! Matagal nang na-ban itong gamot na ito kasi kagkakaimpeksyon ang mga pasyente dito. Karamihan ng naging pasyente naming nag palagay nito ay galing din ng Japan. Di lang nila ito nilalagay sa lips kundi pati sa breast, nose, etc. They usually say that it is “collagen”, but its not. Lalo na pag sinabi nilang mura lang, dont believe it. Mahal ang gamot na collagen.

A plumper and more luscious lips is definitely possible. It’s a quick procedure and relatively simple. Yes, there is a permanent and a temporary. The temporary lasts for about 4-6 months and the permanent lasts for years! Of course there is a big difference between the price of both. The permanent is almost double the price. Ang tawag dun sa gamot ay dermal fillers.
Just be careful because there are those who offer this for less than half the price but the filler that they actually use is silicone OIL! Matagal nang na-ban itong gamot na ito kasi kagkakaimpeksyon ang mga pasyente dito. Karamihan ng naging pasyente naming nag palagay nito ay galing din ng Japan. Di lang nila ito nilalagay sa lips kundi pati sa breast, nose, etc. They usually say that it is “collagen”, but its not. Lalo na pag sinabi nilang mura lang, dont believe it. Mahal ang gamot na collagen.

A certain Doctor from Philippines now in Japan performing that kind of Slicone procedures ! I called them and asked kung ano ang gamit niya for enhancement and she affirmed to me and to my sister na hindi daw po Silicone Oil ang ginagamit niya kundi Collagen daw! She does and use the same injection/ procedure everywhere…I mean…if the client wants to have it done in nose…dun i injection…then if sa cheek…or eyebugs…basta as simple as duon lang iinject ! Please Doc . don’t get me wrong and I don’t want to sound chismosa here or maninira ng kapwa but since my sister had her breast augmentation courtesy of this Doctor last 3 days lang po…medyo…n a-alarm ako sa nabasa ko ! ganun ba talaga kadali and safe ang pagpapa inject? Like…pinahiga lang po siya and yun na nag-start lang ng saksakan sa breast. Yung friend ko naman under ng eyes niya…nawala naman ang eyebugs but parang hindi pantay?? or mali ba ang mata ko? though i didn’t say anything so as not to frighten her since ako din naman…honestly patay na patay magpa-breast augmentation sana… but is it safe? mabuti na lang, hindi ko pa sweldo kaya hindi ako nagpa inject…i nggit na inggit pa naman ako sa kanila shaaks ! I am not trying to scare you but I just want to get people aware of the reality and make them more educated. Mahirap patigilin ang mga gumagawa nito, maski dito sa atin. Imagine mo na lang umabot na sila dyan sa Japan para lang gawin ang mga yan.
Here are the reasons why they flourish. First, mura siya. I believe that for breast augmentation, they charge less than Php 50,000, am I correct? Compared to Breast augmentation surgery (Php 120,000), malaking mura niya. Pangalawa, napakadaling gawin. No surgical experience needed. Pangatlo, it can be done in a clinic (well, practically anywhere as proven by the doctor who went to you instead of the patient going to the clinic). Pang-apat, minimal recovery time. Anyway, I have told you initially why maraming nagpapagawa nitong procedure na ito (silicone oil injections). Now comes the NOT so good part.
Silicone oil, unlike the silicone implants, is “NOT INERT”, meaning nagkakaroon ng reaction ang katawan o tissues ng tao dito. In effect, nagdedevelop ng mga PIGSA or ABSCESS around this material. So kung gano karami ang injections na ginawa sa pasyente, ganun karami rin ang number of pigsa na maaaring magkaroon ang pasyente. Sa breast injection paikot ang injections na ginagawa. You can just imagine kung gano karami ding pigsa ang maaaring madevelop niya. Pero di agad lumulabas ito. Usually after 2 years nag uumpisa. Mahirap ding makuha lahat ng ininject kasi karamihan nito ay di mo na makapa. We can only hope na sana di ganun karami ang magka reaction. I had one patient na nagpainject sa breast. Mga walong pigsa ang nagdevelop and we drained each and everyone of them. Of course walong hiwa din yun. Yung isa naman, tinanggalan ko nung mga na-identify kong oil at nagpalagay siya ng implants. Kaya lang, di ko talaga nakuha lahat ng silicone oil so just last month nagkaroon siya ng pigsa.

doc, yung fillers na sinasabi mo ba e yung collagen lang? wala po bang mas matagal o di kaya yung lifetime na na hindi mawawala? na safe? gusto ko din sana mag pa inject nito pero di ko na lang sasabihin dito kung saan…

Yung pagbukol dun sa may eyes niya, that is expected. With a little massage, lalambot din yun. That is also what we do for “dermal fillers”. It’s the same principle (injecting a material) but it’s just a lot safer because it is made up of materials normally found in our body. Kung silicone oil yun, I dont think its a good idea to spread/massage it.
Mas mahal din ang dermal fillers kaysa silicone oil injection. A syringe of about 1ml is about Php16,000, and that is just temporary (mga 6 months). Kung permanent, that is almost double the price. If you do the mathematics, ang pinakamaliit na breast implant ay mga 160ml. Syempre dalawang breast mo ang lalagyan so that’s 320 ml. Multiply that with the amount per ml, what do you get? Whatever the total, I dont think yun ang binayaran nila.
Wala ka talagang mararamdaman na pain days after the procedure. Kaya marami rin ang may gusto nito. The pain sensors of the body are found near or at the skin level and since tinutusok lang siya at hindi hinihiwa, minimal pain during the procedure and no more pain after. You will really be glad INITITALLY because you see the results immediately and there is no pain. After 2 years, lalabas na ang mga problema, and this will be the start of perpetual regret for having it done.
Dun naman sa pwede nating gawin, we can try to remove as much as possible but we cannot remove all of it. Minor procedure lang yun just like the injections pero instead of putting in something, we take it out.

There are a lot of “fillers” available in the market. Mayroong temporary and mayroon ding permanent. The difference is the price but the method of injecting it is the same. Pareho silang safe. We have injected it sa nose, eyelids, wrinkles, chin, etc. Di siya advisable sa breast because it will need a big amount.

Sharing time again.
Just recently I had a patient who underwent so-called “collagen injections” to the breasts and nose. Funny thing was, the person or doctor(?) who did it told the patient that she would need several sessions. All in all she had 3 sessions for the breasts and 2 sessions in the nose. This means that she charged 3 times for the breasts and twice for the nose. This is the first time I’ve heard that these collagen injections takes several sessions. I guess that person was really out to earn a lot of money at the expense (and possible misery) of others.
Again, I would like to address this thread to those who wish to undergo “collagen injections”. Let me stress that these so-called “collagen” are not really collagen. They are “silicone oil”. These silicone oil are not medical grade, and thus entails a lot of potential problems like abscess formation and infection.
The reason why I posted this in TF is because that patient of mine also came from Japan. We’ve had patients who had these injections done in Japan by some visiting doctor from Manila. Most of them though had their injections here in Manila. I dont know why but most of the patients who had these injections are from Japan. I guess these are their targets.
Nevertheless, let us just be aware. Beware!

Ang nose surgery o rhinoplasty ay isang outpatient procedure so di kailangan ng confinement. Ang mga tahi ay tinatanggal after 4-5 days pagkatapos ay maaari ka ng bumalik sa Japan. Tama lang ang 1 week para sa procedure na yan. Ang pangangalaga naman ng nose ay sa first 2 months ang medyo significant para sa magiging final result niya. Pero di naman ito makakasagabal sa iyong trabaho bilang chef kahit wala pang 2 buwan.
Rhinoplasty actually involves different aspects of treatment. napanood ko sa tv kalimitan daw pag mahilig sa matatamis yung braso ang mas na aapektuhan , dun sumisiksik yung taba taba:D ewan ko kung totoo… (Dr.J totoo po ba yun) napanuood ko rin yung sinasabi mo na parang injection para sa mga unwanted fats/yung mga na stock na talaga na fats na di kinakaya sa exercise, kaya lang maraming session yata bago makita yung results…? ang ganda nga ng braso ni Kris eh~ iiiinaaa~ hihihi~

Talagang nakakataba ang matatamis kasi carbohydrate yan. Pero di naman sa braso lang sumisiksik yan. Mayroon lang mga certain areas sa ating katawan na mahirap matanggal ang fats, even after exercise. Depende rin sa tao. Mayroong sa tiyan, yung iba sa hips, yung iba sa thighs, at yung iba naman ay sa braso. Usually that same area ang problema that runs in the family. Try to look sa family mo, may certain problem area usually. Kada pamilya, may kanya kanyang problem area. Swerte lang ng iba at pwedeng walang ganyang problem area. Ang daya ano? At least ngayon, may nagagawa na tayo di ba?
Treatments para sa braso.
Ang tanong sigurong kailangan nating sagutin ay kung “gusto mo bang mabilis ang result at isang session lang pero a little more difficult, o sandali at madali pero maraming sessions at matagal ang results?”
Eto ang mga options mo:
- Liposuction - faster results, invasive procedure, one session
- Smart lipo - less invasive, one session, longer wait for results
- Mesotherapy/liposdissolve - least invasive, more sessions, longer wait for results

Kung may fatty liver na to start with patient, mas advisable na liposuction na lang so that the melted fats will not have to pass thru your organs such as your liver. Kung ang ibig mo namang sabihin ay kung matatanggal ang fatty liver sa liposuction/mesotherapy, etc., ang sagot diyan ay hindi. Diet and some medications will help us with that.

actually ang better term for that is “liposculpture” dahil tinatanggal nito ang mga fat sa mga unwanted areas. di basta-bastang tinatanggal ang mga fat tissues. may mga areas din na magandang may fat at ito ang nagbibigay ng tulong sa magandang figure in total ng isang tao.
mayroon talagang mga areas na di matanggal ang fat gaano ka man kasipag mag-exercise. Ito ang isa sa mga instances na napaka-ideal na gawin itong procedure na ito.

hello po!!! when you said you do general surgery, does that mean you also operate cleft lip and palate? A 7 yr. old family member had been operated with his cleft lip 6 yrs ago at the veterans hospital sponsored by the phil. band of mercy… The problem is his cleft palate is still open…How much does this surgery cost? and gaano ka haba ang recovery period? he is in davao city at the moment…

A lot of Filipinos abroad who wish to have some sort of cosmetic surgery done would also want to have it done in the Philippines. However, with the growing number of doctors (and non-doctors) doing it but with minimal training, people are exposed to unnecessary risks…

Hello to everyone.
First of all, I would like to apologise for what has transpired recently. I take full responsibility for what has happened. Having said that, allow me to clarify some things and will try to make it as brief as possible.
I am Doctor J and Skin Doc is my wife. We are two different people and we are real physicians, diplomates and fellows in our fields of specialty. We have confirmed that there was a third person (who we knew personally) who had used a different username (sexy mom) in TF online in our location without our knowledge. In my two years in TF, this was the only time that this has happened. As this person may have intentionally did this (and even thought it was funny), did not know the repercussions of such actions then. We did not reply right away to Mr. DCat’s posts but have sent private messages to him regarding such. DCat however, did not reply except for the posts he had made. I cannot deny that his message is not unfounded but it would have been better of he had inquired first before passing judgment. I do hope that when the time comes that you are put on the spotlight, you don’t get the same treatment as you have given us. Just the same, the damage has been done and we have to accept reality as it is.
I have been a member of TF for more that two years, and in those two years, I have not only invited my wife but even my patients from Japan to join this forum because of the good relationship that I have built and received. I am pretty sure that we have helped a lot of people here too.
Again, our heartfelt apologies. We did not intend for this to happen. We would like to announce that this will be our last post in Timog Forum. As it pains me to leave this forum, this will serve as an assurance that this incident shall not happen again. With this, we bid thee farewell.
