Disposing oversized garbage in Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki

Items that are too large to fit into the designated bags are considered oversized garbage. There are two main ways to dispose oversized garbage.

(Note: Refrigerators, TVs, airconditioners, washing machines, computers, etc cannot be disposed as “Oversized Garbage.” Read here.)

1. Take it directly to a waste disposal facility

Oversized garbage can be brought directly to the waste disposal facility (Clean Center) during reception hours.

Reception hours: Monday to Saturday / 9:00 to 16:00
A disposal fee of 130 yen per 10 kilograms is charged for general household waste. (Fees also apply for items weighing less than 10 kilograms)

Reservations are required, so please call the oversized garbage reception hotline (029-826-4800) or apply online.

A fee (200 to 1,200 yen) will be charged depending on the item. Buy an oversized garbage disposal sticker for the required amount and attach it to the item. See the list of stores that sell these sticker below.
Put out the item in a place visible from the road by 8:30 a.m. on the collection day. Collection days vary depending on the area you live in.
There is no need to be present as the contractor will collect it in order.

Reception hours: Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) / 8:30 to 17:00
When applying, please call after confirming the type and quantity of the items you are putting out as bulky waste.

Applications using this form are only accepted if the applicant’s address and the disposal location are the same. In addition, the owner must apply.
The collection location must have a road wide enough for a 2-ton truck to operate. If not, please apply by calling the Tsuchiura City bulky waste reception hotline (029-826-4800).
If you live in a detached house, please put out your bulky waste in a place visible from the road on your property.
If you live in an apartment or condominium with a collection area on the premises, please put out your bulky waste next to the garbage collection area. If there is no collection area, please be sure to get the consent of the manager in advance and fill out this form with the disposal location.
The number of bulky waste items you can apply for using this form is limited to 5 items. If you have 6 or more items, please apply by calling the Tsuchiura City Bulky Waste Reception Hotline (029-826-4800). Please note that we will not collect items that have not been applied for.
We may contact you to confirm the details of your application, but if we are unable to contact you or confirm, your application will be invalid.

Only oversized garbage from households within Tsuchiura City is eligible for collection.
Oversized garbage cannot be returned after collection.
Collection will not be possible if the fee for the bulky waste ticket is insufficient.
The city does not collect items subject to the Home Appliance Recycling Law, such as televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators/freezers, washing machines/clothes dryers, and computers, as well as items that are difficult to dispose of.
