My favorite part of Doho Park during the autumn is not the ginkgo tree-lined promenade at the main entrance where many visitors take their photos. The ginkgo trees in brilliant yellow are swell, of course, but I’ve taken far too many photos around those trees to be excited year after year.
It’s the shallow pools behind the tall reeds at the far end of the big pond that is my favorite autumn haunt. Very few people venture there, and you can be alone surrounded by nature, almost meditative in silence.
While writing this post, I checked on my last entry regarding this place. I can’t believe three years has passed since I wrote that pensive piece.
Yesterday, however, there was no tinge of melancholy in the air: the weather was as fine as one could hope for and we went out for our usual walk around the park.
It was one of those perfect days.
