Ehime Prefecture
Ehime Prefecture (愛媛県, Ehime-ken) is a prefecture of Japan located on the island of Shikoku. Ehime Prefecture has a population of 1,334,841 and has a geographic area of 5,676 km2. Ehime Prefecture borders Kagawa Prefecture to the northeast, Tokushima Prefecture to the east, and Kōchi Prefecture to the southeast.[3]
Across the Seto Inland Sea, to the north is Hiroshima Prefecture, and to the northwest is Yamaguchi Prefecture.[3:1]
Matsuyama is the capital and largest city of Ehime Prefecture and the largest city on Shikoku, with other major cities including Imabari, Niihama, and Saijō.[3:2]
Ehime Prefecture’s industries include shipbuilding, chemical industries, oil refining, and paper and cotton textile products.
