Filipinos in Kyoto

What do you usually do on weekends? Any recommendations where to hangout and just a grab a bottle or pint of beer?

welcome to timog @spork. you’re probably the first one from kyoto to post here. i’ve actually been to kyoto many times, but that was a long time ago

Seems like there aren’t a lot of Filipinos in Kyoto. In my 4 months here, the only other Kabayans I’ve seen are tourist. And making friends here is somehow difficult compared to bigger cities like Tokyo and Osaka.

there are around 2,800 Filipinos in Kyoto, spread out all over the prefecture. Kyoto City has around 1,500

if you really want to find them, the first place to look is your local Catholic church or Philippine pub, take your pick

saan lugar ka ba sa Kyoto kabayan

Try Gion, you can hang out at several bars and/or restaurants (including pinoy restaurant name is Stone Bar & Grill). There are at least 2 clubs I know that play live music (pinoy bands). Sa Malacanang Unlimited, we play every friday :guitar: :metal:
