I saw this hanko on my husband’s birth certificate, i was just wondering what it means… This Birth Certificate was used kasi dati when he applied for a working visa in Japan, sinumbit ito sa immigration… Help naman. I wanna know what it means… Balak ko kasi siya kuhanan ng tourist visa by February, eto nalang sana ulit gagamitin ko para hindi nako pupunta sa NSO:D

hmm teka. kung japanese ang hubby nya, bakit nag-apply for a working visa in japan? 
meaning non-japanese. nag-guguru ako sa fonts na ginagamit sa 実印 (jitsu in) pero sorry di ko mahanap kung ano. yung 馬 lang ang obvious. i think it’s 富篆書体. http://www.in-ito.co.jp/Font/fontTensyo.htm

dapat ang hanko … kaso … hindi raw ito galing ng city hall … la daw siyang idea …
sorry …can’t help you with this …( una sabi niya , hanko daw ng " artist " … eh nung sinabi kong sa b.certificate nakalagay … " nagkamot na ng ulo " … sorry talaga … ) baka yung ibang TF members … may alam … wait ka pa rin ng reply nila kweschon nga pala … filipino ba may-ari ng BC or japanese ?

question lang, translated to Japanese na ba itong BC ng hubby mo when you submitted this to Immigration Office? If that is the case, maybe hanko yan nang nag-translate ng BC niya…

I showed this to an educated Japanese and even he couldn’t tell exactly what it is.
The following is what he said.
1 Square hanko is usually official seal, such as mayor, or someone in charge of that office.
It is usually with the personal name of such a person, (a human being, natural person in legal jargon, not the legal person.)
2 Personal hanko is usually round and small.
3 Official acceptance hanko is usually round, rubber stamp with a date, and usually in blue or black, and not in red.
4 Tomiten is a style of tensyo（てん書）, and is more like a product name than a name of a style.
We succeeded in downloading and installing the Tomiten font from the site mentioned above.
Since there are several versions of tensyo, strokes of tensyo differs from one style to another.
Though a bit different, the best he could think of was 算逓達, meaning “Post delivery counted.” But he said he may be wrong.
The first letter occupies the right half of the hanko, he thought.
The first letter’s upper part suggest kusakanmuri, not takekanmuri, but it may be a variation.
The middle part of the first kanji is 日（Not 目 as in the current letter), though in MS Gothic style( default) , it is abbreviated to 日 as you see in this post if you are using default.
The second letter looks like 馬 at first glance, but since the leftest stroke is connected altogether, it may not be 馬、 then it can be 逓、 meaning postal service, though the sinnyu part is omitted to avoid duplication to the third letter.
The third letter must be 達、 meaning arrival if you say it “tatsu” or if you say it “tachi” or “dachi” it means there are more than two. (plural)
If you say 馬達(umatachi), it means mga kabayo, though this usage is rather colloquial.
The word 達 is used in names, too. Pronunciation differs from one person to another, such as tatsu, susumu, takashi, etc.

Another thing he wants to make sure;
Usually a certificates expires( meaning, maging hindi puwede, walang kabuluhan) after a certain period of days, (for example 30 days), but if it came from a distant place or if there are other valid reasons, the expiration date can be extended.
Isn’t this such a case?
Compare the issuance date of BC and acceptance date of it, please.
In such a case, 算逓達(Post arrival counted) makes sense, he said.

I agree with 1 & 2. That’s exactly the first thing that came into my mind…
Yung hanko is nandun sa likod ng BC, sa isang BC naman nasa harap.

kasi,… 筧(read it “kakei” ng family name) 馬達(cannot read it ,but “madatsu” or “madachi” or “umatatsu”) ang pangalan sino
