hello hello everyone! I am new here in this forum, yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
First of all, I’m so happy to have found this. I just got here in Japan last September 16. Ive been here before several times because my mom is married to a japanese national. Shes a permanent resident here, and now that Im 22, ive wanted to work here. But here is the catch. Not half a year ago, my stepdad who is japanese had adopted me and my brother, and my last name is now Taniuchi and both me and my brother are in my stepdads family register. when i came to japan on the 16th of september, my visa was marked as a temporary visitor, but my mom wants me to get my visa changed into a child of a japanese national in order for me to get to work here…
My mom and stepdad had asked the immigration office in Kushiro already but it seems like they dont really know what to do with that. THe officer there said that my case would be like my moms case where her visa was changed into “spouse and child of a japanese national”.
But that term “child” bothers me and my step dad… I really don’t know the process for this… otosan said that child is defined as a young individual ranging from 6 years old and below… But what about me? Im in the family register… but it seems so complicated… How can i change my visa status? Is there anyone out there with the same case? If so, can you pls help me and i will worship the ground you walk on… XD
or maybe not…

not sure of my answer … but will try
ang alam ko sa spouse and child of a japanese … child is irregardless of of age … and if you are already in the family registration form … if you already made your way being adopted and included in the family registration, you have the priveledge to apply for spouse and or child of a japanese visa, just ask the immigration for the application, file it, and bahala na ang immigration kung i-a-approve kayo, puwede yan, especially that both of your parents are here in japan for good.
Nagkakaroon lang nang problema sa age limit when adopting a child … but sa case mo na na-approved kayo

ahh sana lang nga di ka mali… >_< im worried kasi i only have 3 months long to stay. I wonder what are the chances of it getting denied… Sobrang gulo… We are no longer after the change of nationality. It really doesnt matter, but for some reason they always seem to squeeze it in between the topic, thus mentioning the age. Gulo nga e. technically father ko japanese, mother ko permanent resident, tapos di ako pwede tumira dito. :eek: weird…
But gosh, wonder what are the chances of it getting denied…?

konnichiwa!!!nasa kushiro ka pala medyo malayo but since kasama mo ang family samishikunai ne!regarding sa problema mo i have friend b4 na may anak sa pinas and was adopted by her japanese husband but on their case below 18 pa yong anak niya ng dumating sa japan w/ a long term visa but if her son turn 20 kailangan bumalik sa pinas but bago nangyari na makauwi nag asawa ng japanese.I ask my husband regarding dis matter sabi naman niya mahirap ang case mo f above 20 ka na though adopted ng japanese national u r stil considered alien

chances of being denied is because you are on your working age
you and your parents must have a valid reason why you need to stay here in japan.

First of all, what you are talking about is not really a visa.
It’s called katayuhan ng pagpigil (在留資格）,though usage often allows the former.(Hence here in after referred to as “bisa”)
The Kushiro office(釧路港出張所)is under the Sapporo main office(札幌入国管理局) .
I have heard from an “administrative documentation lawyer”(行政書士）that if you want a special decision you should go to the main office repeatedly, and talagang makulitly.
As far as I have searched prospective of your application is not good, as other TF members have said.
For, if you want to get " Long Term Residence" bisa, (定住者）, all of the following conditions must be OK.
‘Long Term Residence’.
Sa kadahilang:
(1) Hapon ang kanyang magulang.
(2) Ang kanyang magulang ay nagtitigil sa bansang Hapon may hawak ang visa ng “asawa ng Hapon at iba pa”.
(3) Tunay na anak ang bata sa magulang.
(4) Minor de edad ang bata. (minor means 0-19 years old)
(5) Hindi kasal ang bata.
(6) Ang bata ay susuportahan ng kanyang magulang na nagtitigil sa bansang Hapon.
Since you are 22 years old, #4 is not good.
As for spouse etc. （配偶者等）bisa、you have to be special ampon defined in article 817-2 of Civil Acts. ( 民法（明治２９年法律第８９号）第８１７条 の２の規定による特別養子) or born as child of a Japanese. (又は日本人の子として出生した 者)
This means you have to be under 6 years old as your otosan has said.
Ang payo ko ay:
1 Apply to the Kushrio, for it is near to your town
2 If turned down, go to Sapporo for espesyial na trato.
(There were a few cases of espesiyal na trato recorded in lawsuits. Hints for “valid” reason might be given to you through makulit na visitations.)
3 Meanwhile extend your current bisa,
4 Meanwhile get a Japanese boyfriend and marry him.
(Study Japanese, or find someone who speaks English.
Walk around, before it gets too cold to walk around. Good Luck.)
Working illegally or overstaying is not recommended.
It Will destroy your stepfather’s credibility as guarantor.

There you are again tainga - your expertise in the japanese ways and means is really commendable but sometimes - your suggestions gets too absurb!
FYI, I am also based in Sapporo and let me dispel all those suggestions to be makulit when you deal with the Immigration office in Odori - THEY DO NOT WORK! Hindi matitinag ang mga opisyal ng kakulitan - all you have to do is follow the rules and the required paperwork and you will get what you deserve.
My suggestion for you is to give the immigration bureau a call - Ask your father to do it for you. I assume you can get permission to change your status of residence since you are now legally an adopted child of a japanese national. You do not need to get PR at once (since it also require at least five years of Japanese residence - there might be exceptions in your case of course) So grab whatever opportunity gets presented to you by the immigration.
I know we have friends in the forum who once faced the same - lets wait for what they might say. In the meantime - give the bureau a call.

Maybe you can go about this another way. Why not try to apply right now for a job so that that company can sponsor your visa? You can apply for an extension of your current status to give you more time to find a job. In my opinion, getting a good company to sponsor you might give you a higher chance of getting a visa. If you stay long enough in that company you can get a three years visa. Try consulting with an immigration lawyer and ask which course of action will give you a better chance of getting an extended visa.
