I’m looking for a freeware application that wil allow me to control our network activity. While Istant Messaging is a cool communication tool - it also affect productivity and have seen many employees maintaning chats while at work. Not a good sight. I have tried blocking ports via the router, editing Hosts files and the free IM IMDetector from IM logic but it only recognize yahoo, aol and msn. Employees are getting clever using other IM clients to log on
Baka meron kayong alam na app so I can control everthing from a single deskstop…
My last resort is to reprimand and install an IM ruling. (yan ang ayaw ko)

wala akong masa suggest na freeware…mahirap!
as u said, clever na sila ngayon.maba block mo yung iba pero sobrang dami na ang mga IM clients ngayon.iikot at iikutan nila ang freeware na ilalagay mo.
ill suggest na lang to treat this as a staff policy issue rather than attempting to block it.

I’m not familiar with your network setup but if your workstations pass through the same router and you’ve already blocked ports i’m wondering how they are circumventing that. Maybe you just blocked the default IM ports? It’s easy to change the ports these IM clients are using. Try closing all ports and just open the ones you use.

Thanks Paul and gandagurl, actually I only blocked the ips used by messenger -andami nila and it freezes our router everytime somebody connects. Yong ports naman we maintain a secured FTP for clients, ayaw kong galawin kase iba yung nagset up. Kaya I was looking for a software solution. Making it a policy is a good way nga, ayaw ko naman i-total ban kase naiintindihan ko rin na siguro nahohomsesick itong mga alaga kong pinoy. I just want to control the use during specific hours of the working day.
