it’s been almost 5 months, 9 days and 15 hours since the last time i saw Ninoy Aquino Airport in our country…never thought at first that i could last this long here in japan…recalling that last glimpse i had of our country’s very most warm and blue atmosphere…(warm for all the tears from my eyes that are continuously flowing…blue for all the unending “flight-sorrow syndromes-feelings” for getting to the point of leaving (for the meantime i guess) almost everything you’ve been for 26 years…) to face a whole new life, culture, norms, set of standards, people…etc…here in JAPAN

working here isn’t easy of course…as i recall that last glimpse i can’t figure it out very clearly, maybe enough only for me to be able to share this to you but not as much as wanted it to be…life in japan sometimes is too absurd…living for nothing…working for nothing…but still waking-up everyday just to meet the bus on time and be there in front of your place of work…with this i can’t help myself to wonder things about what i’ve learned with some of our kababayans here…i may not sound so positive here but here’s how i observe almost all those who catches my attention…and those who i happened to talk with…

filipinos we are…in blood…in lifestyle…in language…and in dignity…and i know everyone of all the filipinos here in japan have one common denominator of being here!?? to earn and be home again as soon as possible… but things change many of us here have been affected with the spreading unevitable virus of selective amnesia…we forget why in the first place we are here…we forget those people we left behind hoping one day we’ll be home soon…we forget those people we left behind with whom we shared our very own promises of leaving just to have enough money to support them and at the end be together again…we forget the very essence of our self-respect to what we had made ourselves believed before we took that first step towards the door of the plane going here…

we let ourselves drown to those things we never could imagine we can have…can be…can do…we can share…and we can be with…in short we let our being be miscalculated and be dominated by the society we belong now…at the expense of where we really belong…i’m sharing this things not for being so perfect here…i’m just hoping at least we could be not like those people…being a freshie it’s a real trauma for me…knowing those things in the first hand information…not just with OFW’s story created and editted by directors in some movies or even tele-novelas…now it’s certainly for real…being one of the OFW’s of our country isn’t really a joke…

let us cut the thread of those filipinos who have been afflicted with those viruses…i’m hoping we filipinos here could build a well-developed, wealthy, and harmoniously progressing community not at the expense of those we truly love mosts…let us not forget…let everyone see with the basis of deeds, that filipinos aren’t just for money here…and have nothing left at the end of the day but broken pieces of promises and to the worst point…never had a chance again to be home because of things we could have been avoided if we are just strong enough…

we filipinos here have dignity and a family-loving man…
let nothing change that…

Hey you guys are so cruel. She poured her heart out here, mahirap gawin yun no. Baka nalo-lonely lang sha at naghahanap ng Pinoy na makakausap… Ok lang po we understand that we sometimes need to express our emotions, and sometimes it feels good to let other people see the pain we are feeling, I think we should have a section for written compositions, as suggested in another thread, so we can post our inner turmoils for the rest of the world to see. If I might make a suggestion mam nona, since nasa Japan tayu, you could try being minimalist…have you ever heard of Haiku? yung sinulat mo pede sa tatlong lines… exampol:

Ms. Nona, yes it is true that most of the filipinos here in japan went here to earn . Pero we don’t forget why we are here and most of all we don’t forget those people we left behind. Kaya nga most of us ay naggagambaro ng mabuti para sa mga naiwanan natin diba. What we earn here is not enough kung uuwi tayo sa Pinas. :slight_smile:

Hope you won’t mind if I ask you a question… If you think you have earned enough para pwede mo ng makasama ang mga naiwan mo sa Pinas, why are you still here in Japan and earning? (hope you don’t get me wrong) :smiley: If you are married to a japanese then you don’t have the right to say those things…

Dear Makulit,

Thanks for your reply, sorry if I lost that part. Since her experience is not that long enough. Correct me if I am wrong, all of us here have our own reason for staying long. Yes maybe she can say that only now kasi wala pa siyang six months but once na makaipon na siya and I know she will feel also the same like most of all the Filipinos here. :slight_smile:

Some are not able to express themselves clearly in their own language, what more using a foreign one?

Clearly, you misunderstood that we, your co-timog members are trying to reach out to you. Nobody is saying that they know more than you. Difference in opinion is healthy. And timog members are all wise to respect one’s opinion.

Glad to know that you are happy here. May God bless and keep you for the family that you left behind in Philippines. Mabuhay Ka Ms Nona!
