EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
Migrant Workers Office
Tokyo, Japan

ADVISORY NO. 2023-003

GROWING CASES OF UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MIGRANT WORKERS OFFICES’ NAME AND PERSONNEL, FORGED MWO-TOKYO STAMPS

The Migrant Workers Office in Tokyo (MWO-Tokyo) wishes to reiterate its previous advisory regarding the proliferation of the unauthorized use of the name of its office, as well as the use of forged stamps bearing its name and the name of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, together with swindling and illegal recruitment activities being operated by certain individuals.

The Post has been receiving emails and calls seeking confirmation on the legality of the employment contracts / jobs offered to them in Japan. It was glaringly apparent on the face of the documents that the MWO-Tokyo Stamps used are bogus, and accordingly, these documents never went through MWO-Tokyo verification.

In addition, it has come to our attention that certain individuals are misrepresenting themselves as MWO-Tokyo personnel, and worse, collecting fees from the job-seekers in the Philippines.

The public is being warned of the above unscrupulous and illegal recruitment activities, and everyone is encouraged to be more vigilant and discerning when offered overseas employment in Japan.

Lastly, we would like to reiterate that the MWO-Tokyo does not collect any fees whatsoever in the verification of employment documents and recommend everyone to visit the official website of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) for the legitimate list of approved job orders and opportunities in Japan.

For everyone’s information and guidance.
