Kung talagang gusto niyo ng party, dapat siguro ay yung mga moderators ang mag-organize;). Halimbawa kung sa Kanagawa area gaganapin, hindi ba mas ok kung si Andres San ang mag-volunteer? Likewise pag sa Tokyo naman, si Mr. Nick and so forth and so on… Kung less than 10 heads lang ang siguradong makakalitaw sa gagawing ‘party’, pwede na yung suggestion ni Chepot na aarkila ng isang lugar for the occasion. I know a place called “PIA” in central kawasaki wherein you are allowed to bring ‘cooked foods’ and drinks. Party rooms can accomodate more than 10 people at a time.
Kung meron po kayong alam na mas accessible para sa karamihan ng TF members, magsabi lang po kayo. At kung sino man ang may suggestion, sana siya rin ang organizer.
P.S.
Parang gusto ni Maruchan na i-offer ang place niya pero nahihiya daw (yata) kasi malayo sa eki:)

Kailangan sigurong i-decide muna kung home party ba o sa labas. Ang advantage ng home party, siguro mas relaks, mas “family” yung dating, at syempre pwedeng magdala ng pagkain ang mga guests (at alam naman natin, maraming magaling magluto dito sa TF :king: ). Yung advantage naman nang magkita-kita sa labas, e syempre, less pressure naman dun sa host/organizer, at minimal lang ang preparations na kailangan, mag set lang ng time & place. Kung akong tatanungin, mas madali siguro ang magkita sa labas… unless may super-bait na member na mag volunteer :food: :toast:

Ako rin pa sali. Sana Linggo or holiday para walang pasok. Ihahanda ko na yung train map at ma check rin sa computer para siguradong ma verify pati sked at fare. Mahirap nang maubusan nang ride lalot lumalamig na.Got a bad experience one time missing the last trip. Decided to walk and got a fever :sick: for few days,ha,ha,ha!:lol:

oh sige…im also willing…i can help sa preparations and paghanap ng lugar kaya lang dito lang ako me alam sa kawasaki…kung karaoke box nga, maganda din dun sa sinasabi ni crispee na we can bring foods and drinks…kahit ano…potluck ba…
mag kita kita tayo sa station…kung JR or keihin kyuko para dun sa mga byabyahe …
set natin ang date para makapagpareserve… the problem is how many members ang sure na mag join para malaman natin kung anong room ang i-rereserve natin…suggestion lang po…since most of us are working, how about saturday evening? 6:30 or around 7:30 or kaya, post natin here ang oras ng availabilty natin para we can decide the time.
umpisahan ko…k lang sa akin anytime ng saturday wag lang sa malayo…

I think docomo is right! It’s nice to have blessing or approval from moderators, so others at far can also group in and connect even via net meeting. Won’t be a TF meeting/gathering without them.

Talagang nasa 'EB-Mode" ka na ha:). Nung nagkita-kita kami nina Maruchan sa Hikawa Maru (yokohama), napag-usapan namin ang xmas eb. Ang tentative location ay sa kanilang bahay (Yokohama, Aoba Ku). At sisikapin namin na matapat ang okasyon sa Dec. 24 ng gabi. Sabado yun. Pagkatapos naman ng Xmas, pwede rin uling magkita-kita sa lugar ni Maple, Yamanashi ken pero malapit sa Fujinomiya. Mochi tsuki taikai naman ang gagawin sa kanila. Wala pang eksaktong date para dito. Sana may makasamang moderator sa mga planong pagtitipon.
Meron pala akong gustong i-share na mga ‘EB’ pictures at simpleng umpukan sa mga nakaraang taon. Ito ay kuha sa iba’t-ibang lugar na kung saan nakatira ang mga kaibigang nakilala ko din sa internet. Ang location ng pictures ay Public Albums > People (http://www.timog.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=4 )

Parties are cool! And what’s this about having our “permission” to have parties? No, you don’t need that. Party away! is what I say. We’re thrilled that you want this an “official” TF event, but I can’t organize parties because of my extremely busy schedule, but more importantly, because TF members are all over Japan. We don’t like to have “official” parties in Tokyo but not being able to do the same in Osaka or Yokkaichi, for example.
However, you can make this an Unofficial Timog Forum Party if you want, organized by TF members in Tokyo. An informal get-together. We’d be happy to have the Timog Forum name for your party, even if only “unofficially”. I’m sure some moderators like andres and reon can attend (not because they’re moderators of Timog Forum, by the way, but because they like to and they’re near).
Sorry for the other TF members in other places. I’m sure when we have enough members all over Japan, you too can organize Unofficial Timog Forum Parties in your area.

I agree with his position. I believe this will be the First EB ng TF (eventhough unofficial at least with the blessing of the Admin).
My suggestion is:

Someone particularly a Moderator or designated member to start a thread with poll.
Since sanay naman tayo na majority wins, may choices sana na ang venue ay 1) Tokyo 2) Yokohama 3) Others , including the date. So important na may mag decide na regarding sa date at sino ang willing na magorganize sa bawat lugar na mapipili. -
Sana ang date will be on November since marami rami rin members na uuwi ng December.

Mag set ng voting period , then based on the result doon ang EB.
para sa akin since kauna-unahan nga itong i-oorganize (sa pagkakaalam ko, correct me if i am wrong) better eh pangkalahatan at hindi per area na lang.
this suggestion is based on my experience sa mga EBs’ na ginawa namin sa TAP.
If ever na maging November, mapa yokohama , tokyo or kung saan man madecide, i will definitely join since it will be MY FIRST and LAST opportunity na makasama sa ganitong gathering here in Japan. Everytime na na-attend ako ng EB , laging masaya ang pakiramdam kasi nadadagdagan ang kaibigan at higit sa lahat masarap ang pakiramdam habang nag-popost ka kasi nakita mo na in person ang mga ka member mo. If ever na maging Dec 24 naman, di ako sure kung ano magiging activity namin dito sa company.
sabi nga namin palagi “sa pagdalo sa mga EB, pag gusto may paraan, pag ayaw may dahilan”
yun lang po.

IMO, siguro mas maganda kung per area na lang yung EB or get together, say, meron sa tokyo, yokohama, etc.
wag na lang pagsasabayin para in case yung mga taga yoko na gusto ring mag join sa mga taga tokyo ay pwede ring maka attend

I just read this thread now- but it seems that there is no direction - because there are no choices - no dates to choose from - no places to choose from-
the suggestion above sounds okay - but here are more ideas - if you don’t mind…
Here are some suggestions-
- About the place- Tokyo or any place between Tokyo and Yokohama -
but personally I would prefer Tokyo - not because I am from Tokyo- but if we consider the other people travelling from Saitama, Ibaragi, and other places outside Tokyo - I think that most trains lead us to Tokyo… travel time from most places to Tokyo - an hour and a few minutes- also for those in Kanagawa, Tokyo is accessible - right?
a. Yes, a big park would be nice- but what if it rains?
b. Since our main purpose is to meet each other - talk and have fun…
I suggest a hall with a roof above our heads…
Maybe we can rent or borrow - maybe the Franciscan hall in St. Ignatius Church in Yotsuya - or a ward’s hall - maybe Shinjuku-ku’s community center, or Bunkyo-ku or any ku’s available place… or a Filipino restaurant.
Or maybe even a room at the Philippine embassy… who knows maybe we can?

Time - I suggest afternoon- evening would be too late for those who travel far away - and besides afternoon would give us more time to each other… like maybe meet at 3 or 4 p.m. until “sawa”…
Later we can decide - whether to have a second party somewhere else…
as suggested above… 2 ji kai. -
Date- maybe November 12,13,19,20,26, or 27- those are the Saturdays and Sundays in November - to give us one month time to prepare…
what do you think? We should choose the date soon…what about a Sunday? (we are sure that many of us will be free, some people work on Saturdays - right?)

- We really need the organizers to volunteer and get in touch with one another soon. At least, 4-5 organizers are needed - planning, food , attendance and party fee collecting, activities…
We would need a room - first of all, I can imagine that it would be a lively or maybe even "noisy affair… "
FOOD
If it would be a hall, we should also plan the food -
a. pot luck? (disadvantage - some people may bring the same food, some may not bring, some may bring too much food - we do not know how much food to bring…)
b. set a fixed fee per head, and have it catered - once we know how many are coming we can collect the fees at the gate…
c. I think it would be more practical to order obento boxes- at least we can control and order only the amount for those confirmed to attend…
Sorry, it won’t be Filipino food…
IF you want Filipino food.
That would be possible if we have the party at a Filipino restaurant…
I saw one at Ebisu and one at Kichijoji many years ago…we can ask if they accept group parties during afternoons- or maybe we can borrow the place and have them cook for us for a fee per person…
But again, we have to know how many people are coming to the party…

we should move now because we only have one month if the party will be in November… December, most of us will be busy for Christmas preparations…right ?

Since no one seems to be moving- here are what I found out -
the room at Yotsuya church- that we cannot use - that is only for religious funtions…

To make a party at a restaurant where there are reservations is a bit dangerous… if the people do not show up - who will pay the fees?
I recommend we just meet at a restaurant and order by ourselves…
there is another Filipino restaurant in Akabane, 10 minutes by foot from the station…
Personally, I think if we are to meet for the first time- it does not have to be a Filipino restaurant… we can go to those bigger places- so we do not have to reserve…

went out with some friends last saturday, we rented a bar at shimbashi drink all you can for 70000 only and there were like 20 of us. it has some finger food too… but if we are meeting for the very first time, i guess a hall would be best.

Huwag ka nang umasa sa embassy. Ipupusta ko ang virginity ko (kung may natitirang value pa yon… :shutup: oops, may menor de edad pala sa TF) na di ka makakakuha ng kuwarto doon. That is, if you can even get through the eternally busy phones…
As for Yotsuya, malabo din, dahil siguradong di mo madi-disguise ang potential gulo ng TF Party bilang convention ng mga madre…
Mahirap talaga magplano kung di mo alam for sure ilan ang darating - and you have no way of confirming dahil di mo alam ang real identity ng mga tao. Catch 22 situation kung baga.
My suggestion is to have an unstructured affair para di maipit ang “kanji” (party master). If you make reservations or borrow a hall, then have it catered, sino ang sasagot kung biglang tatlo lang ang dumating?
Maybe what can be done is to announce a date (a Saturday or Sunday in November, starting at noon or early afternnon) and a venue (park like Hibiya, Shinjuku Gyoen, or even a small community park na halos walang tao para pwedeng i-solo). KKB basis (kanya-kanyang-baon), and those who are feeling galante can perhaps bring a little more food to share bits with 2 or 3 more others (ala 7 loaves of bread sa Bibliya). On that day, at the designated spot, may magwe-wave ng maliit ng bandila (how very Japanese) bilang senyas, and anybody interested in coming can just come…
If you hold it in the latter half of November, mas maliit ang chance na uulan - pero mas maginaw na. At any rate, pwedeng gumawa ng fallback plan katulad ng mga hanabi festivals in the summer. Pag umulan sa 7AM of the day of the party (o kung over 50% ang prediction sa weather forecast), cancelled ang party and automatically postponed to the next week. As long as you do not cook food (meaning na basically ay bibilin mo on the way to the party), walang damage sa bulsa kung di man matuloy ang party…

Agree ako na mas maigi siguro magkitakits sa isang public place kung saan hindi kailangan ng sobrang planning o reservations. Kasi, tulad nga ng sabi nila city_rabbit et al, mahirap na kung maraming nag back out, etc etc. Kung gusto nyong magkitakits sa 28th or 29th (Friday/Saturday), malamang ay pwede ako. O ano, totoo na ba 'to? Hehe.
Saan ba maganda? Roppongi hills, Pip, ok ba doon?? Okey din sa akin ang idea ng night gimik (tagal ko na kasing walang night life e)… kayo ba?
Pero suggestion ko lang medyo i-limit din natin ang budget

As I mentioned before - I am for the KKB, meet at one place- a park or somewhere… because we do not know how many will come.
I inquired at Yotsuya church- they do not lend the room - unless there is a priest with us, in short- a religious gathering… which as you said is doubtful by the noise we will make.
So- if we vote on the date- and place- then we can just - pick it up from there- like go to a restaurant or have our own obentos with us…
if it is a park - at least we can be a bit noisy… a bit… okay?
The embassy - I have not asked… but if you say it is impossible…then -
maybe fall back on plan one- a park or a hall - of any ward near Tokyo?
But first - we must decide on the following -
day, date and place…

from what i observe, plans (for an informal event) like this usually end up to be just a plan. the odds of not realizing that plan gets even greater if it is planned at a later date. so lets agree on what and where the event is, then set the date not earlier than 1 week but not later than two weeks. earlier than one week would give us less time to prepare while we might end up with people changing plans if its later than two weeks .
here are my suggestions:
- lunch at a park in tokyo.
a. saturday: after lunch maybe we can go for karaoke or disco club for those wanting more
b. sunday: maximum attendees is a possibility because most would probably attend
mass/sunday service - disco/karaoke in roppongi
- i’ll add this anyway, hakone: we can stay at a ryokan (tourist inn)
let’s agree on this then decide the date.

Pero game ako sa idea ng party wahoo!
Kailangan sigurong i-decide muna kung home party ba o sa labas. Ang advantage ng home party, siguro mas relaks, mas “family” yung dating, at syempre pwedeng magdala ng pagkain ang mga guests (at alam naman natin, maraming magaling magluto dito sa TF :king: ). Yung advantage naman nang magkita-kita sa labas, e syempre, less pressure naman dun sa host/organizer, at minimal lang ang preparations na kailangan, mag set lang ng time & place. Kung akong tatanungin, mas madali siguro ang magkita sa labas… unless may super-bait na member na mag volunteer :food: :toast:
Huwag yung home party kawawa naman yung maybahay masyadong mapupuyat at stress kahit na maghugas tayo nang plato bago umalis. Sa labas na lang talaga. At may suggestion ako. Bakit hindi natin kumbidahin ang Jeepney Press staffer o Kayay Philippine Digest Magazine para ma feature naman tayo sa press. Sasali ako diyan ha!

As for me, as long its around Tokyo area and can be reach just by commuting OK lang po.A agree with the other suggestion such as to meet first in any public place and decide nalang later pag nagkatipon na,KKB,off if 50%rain in weather forecast,etc. Sana sunday or day off para marami ang maka attend. Paki specify na lang ang smallest point or spot para madaling hanapin. Better if there is a shade or benches to hang around. Paki PM na rin if ever we reach some decision para madaling malaman.

Although i suggested arranging the date not two weeks later, this Nov. 20 would be fine. It’s more than 3 weeks but if everyone agrees then i’m ok with it. Anyway, we’re still in the polling process so most likely, the plan would be finalized at least two weeks prior to the event. I just hope walang magback-out because chances are, some would forget or change plans.

we can be anonymous in TF and at the same time be barkadas or close friends (or have heated exchanges) ouside of it.

no problem. pero siempre iba-iba pa rin kasi tayo ng ugali or style. may mahiyain at meron ding outspoken na tulad mo siguro. pero strictly sa TF (na hindi naman kailangan ng personalan) lang naman yung suggestion ko about anonymity. outside it, pwede mo pa ring sabihin kung anong gusto mong sabihin (i.e. tunay mong pangalan, kung san ka nakatira or any personal stuff) na hindi na anonymous. it’s a personal choice.your thought is ok and nice but it remains a fact that all of us are not real friends yet–maybe even after the party.

Actually mga 6 years ago nage-EB kami ng mga chatmates ko, kaya alam kong masaya. Yung iba sa kanila kilala ko na dati bago ko naging ka-chat. Yung ibang na sa chat ko lang nakilala ay nagbago ever since nag-EB kami. Baka lang ganun din sa forum.

being anonymous in a forum like this isn’t a measure of how good you are as a friend. saka hindi naman buong buhay natin eh nakatali sa TF. baka nga marami sa atin ang isa sa isang buwan lang kung magbasa sa TF, gaya ko. wala namang personalan dito. you just ask something and expect an unbiased answer in return. TF is a place for us to learn the view of others in their own perspective, not their perspective based on how they know you as a person.

TF can be homey if you choose your attitude towards TF to be homey even if you do not know the person your discussing with. you can be happy, angry etc. you just have to choose your attitude. the anonymity adds mystery and excitement nga eh. o di ba nai-intriga ka na kung sino-sino nga ba ung nakaka-discuss mo.
Dax and hunky are right. kapag kaibigan mo na yung tao ay malamang magiging biased na ang opinion mo (e.g. sa threads na involved yung kaibigan mo). the fact is humans mostly act on their emotions not on logic.
besides, how would you know if someone told you his/her real handle name or even real name?

my humble opinion is, kung gusto mong i-retain ang anonimity in and outside of Timog Forum. Better not attend any EB at all. Doesnt make sense na you’ll be seeing each other face to face and will spend quite sometime talking and then nickname pa rin ang gamit.
Its very odd to make introduction like ‘Hi, I’m Darna’. If others doesnt want to reveal their names because they are scared dahil nga sa estado ng kanilang bisa. Give TF members naman some credit. For sure hindi ka naman ilalagay sa sitwasyon na hindi kanais-nais.
Mahal ko ang kapwa ko Pilipino, hindi ako gagawa ang isang bagay na makakasama sa yo.

wala namang angasan mga kababayan ko. likeable might have overdone it, but on second thought baka naman nag-overreact sya sa possiblity na di sya makakasama dahil lang ayaw nya ibigay handle name nya.

my humble opinion is, kung gusto mong i-retain ang anonimity in and outside of Timog Forum. Better not attend any EB at all. Doesnt make sense na you’ll be seeing each other face to face and will spend quite sometime talking and then nickname pa rin ang gamit.
Its very odd to make introduction like ‘Hi, I’m Darna’. If others doesnt want to reveal their names because they are scared dahil nga sa estado ng kanilang bisa. Give TF members naman some credit. For sure hindi ka naman ilalagay sa sitwasyon na hindi kanais-nais.
Mahal ko ang kapwa ko Pilipino, hindi ako gagawa ang isang bagay na makakasama sa yo.

For me, it is just a matter of personal choice. If others prefer not to divulge their handle names, then let them be. I don’t see any problem with that. The key here is the word “respect”. We should respect other’s preferences.

wala namang angasan mga kababayan ko. likeable might have overdone it, but on second thought baka naman nag-overreact sya sa possiblity na di sya makakasama dahil lang ayaw nya ibigay handle name nya.
hindi na kailangan pa ng isang poll na most likely would cause division. the party was suggested by someone for all to have fun, not to make the members bicker then decide on who gets to join or not. some members just wanted to remain “anonymous” not mysterious. this is all i asked for.

all i’m (and maybe the others) asking for is to remain anonymous in a sense that members who get to know my real name would not know what my username is . as a matter of fact, i am more than willing to divulge my real name, address and fon no. and visa status. when i suggested no “who’s who?” questions, i meant no asking what someone’s real name and username is. so para sa akin ok lang tanungin kung anong tunay kong pangalan pero sana wag na tanungin kung ano ang username ko. wala naman po sigurong masama kung mag party without knowing anyone’s username. importante para sa akin ay yung real name. ok lang naman maging anonymous dito sa TF dahil the moderators see to it that we’re just giving our opinions and walang awayan, walang chismisan o siraan.
para bang, if newspaper columnists can write reports or opinions with a pseudoname, why can’t we? feeling pero pagbigyan nyo na

i have no intention of insulting anyone here. my apology if i sound offending dun sa last words ko. ito lang kasi yung EB na narinig ko na naging issue yung pagiging anonymity. as i’ve said earlier, EB/party is conducted to be able to know the individual more other than their handle and avatar. parang, “enough of the avatar and handle thing. yung totoo naman!” yun yung essence kung bakit nagkakaroon ng EB. from anonymous to become friends and eventually barkada mo na. but of course, im talking about EB’s of different forum here. I’m really surprised lang talaga dito sa atin. di ba dapat tayo pa ang maging eager magkakilakilala dito dahil nasa ibang bansa tayo?

kaya nga po sana kung ayaw ng iba na ibigay ang username nila ay pabayaan na lang. choice nila yon.your suggesting a poll that would make people feel bad about themeselves if the poll went out of their way. the ideal poll of “who is going is” should suffice. OT, i hope i am not being melodramatic here but i think our concept of democracy should be that the majority should think for the best and, also try to respect compromise and address the minority’s opinion and needs–not to completley cast them away.
the way i see it, the compromise of letting a member not divulge his username if he/she doesn’t want to is less damaging (if that’s what we might call it) than letting a member tell his/her username if he/she wants to. i feel sorry for myself already that i might not be able to join the party if majority says “tell us.” i feel sorry too for the people who wanted to go but wouldn’t be allowed to because their opinion differed from the majority. is this what we want to happen to members who would love to join?this not a very important event, i go for “Comprise” not “Our way or the highway!”

To all those who attended the get together at Shinjuku-Gyoen Park -
Thank you for coming to our event at the park. Got home about thirty minutes ago… and told my husband how much fun it was to have met you.
Just wished I had more time to talk to each one of you.
Did not imagine that the park would get colder later in the afternoon…
If it were a warmer place- maybe we had stayed longer… :rolleyes:
Di bale next time, magpapalagay nalang ako ng private room doon sa park for us… (Nabili na namin ni Chepot yung park a few weeks ago, diba Chepot?)

To all those who attended the get together at Shinjuku-Gyoen Park -
Thank you for coming to our event at the park. Got home about thirty minutes ago… and told my husband how much fun it was to have met you.
Just wished I had more time to talk to each one of you.
Did not imagine that the park would get colder later in the afternoon…
If it were a warmer place- maybe we had stayed longer… :rolleyes:
Di bale next time, magpapalagay nalang ako ng private room doon sa park for us… (Nabili na namin ni Chepot yung park a few weeks ago, diba Chepot?)

I was glad I joined the meeting kahit humabol lang kami. Happy to meet everyone (those who joined) in person. It was really fun,and had a great time talking. Mas masaya sharing ideas and getting a response directly, parang yung barkadahan sa Pinas. Thanks rin nga pala dun sa masarap na sandwitch prepared ni…
Times flies so fast and all of a sudden pa close na yung park. Kahit maginaw nang kaunti,nag enjoy talaga ako. Actually some of us who went a different way to the station still hang a little while chatting before we really separate ways.
Kami ni…gumala pa nang konte sa Akihabara to check some games CD and other new tech stuff. See you later guys.

Ang saya-saya nyo naman. Sayang hindi na-aprub ng board of directors ng TF yung request ko for transportation allowance para maka-attend ng EB. Masyado daw kasi akong malayo, hanggang 100 yen lang daw ang budget para sa transpo :D. Hamo siya, pag tumama ako sa lotto, EB tayo dito sa amin, sagot ko lahat.
Ang dami palang magaganda’t guwapo sa TF. Ayan, siguradong mas madami ang dadalo sa susunod na EB. Kelan kaya?

If I did not bring my wheels, and if my tooth did not fall, I could have joined your coffee time , or maybe joined you in Akihabara…or even just until Shinjuku station… Mahirap kasi parking sa Shinjuku - I had to go home…

Next time, for sure we have to stay in a warmer place like a coffee shop or restaurant - indoors- so that we can talk and get to know each other more…
And, I will bring my microphone so I can interview each and everyone…
with all the questions…like where are you from in the Philippines, what do you do here in Japan, how many children do you have, are you single or married… etc. (ala wide-show… ) Or just take your photos like the official photographers did…
For those who attended, favor, please send me email - homework ninyo - please write a short or long paragraph about yourselves if you don’t mind that I get to know you more… this is a serious onegai. It was really nice to meet you folks… Had so much fun… laughing out loud… right?
