No offense to Puting Tainga but the first time I saw his username, I thought it was a bastardized Tagalog cuss phrase.

Salamat!
Masaya ako na topic ng thread ang pangalan ko.

Ayon sa diksyonaryo ni Father English, puting tainga=kuripot.

I stay home usually, because I don’t want to spend money.

Kuripot talaga ako, hence the name puting tainga.

(This doesn’t necesasarily mean our friend Makulit is makulit.:stuck_out_tongue: )

Though not in the dictionaries, some say, puting tainga means “persons who believe things easily.”
I don’t believe things easily, just because someone said it to me.

I don’t know either if puting tainga means sensitive or not.
But I can say I am not insensitive.:stuck_out_tongue:

As for “tainga”, I usually pronouce it as “tenga”, but since the rule of this board requires one to use correct spelling, I write “tainga.”

Oh Great Mushroom in the Net sky please tell us about this bastardized mura!
Wait, I think I got it…

Thanks Skydimple for putting a thread about handlenames. I wanted to start one but never had the chance to do so.

I chose Betong because it reminds me of when I was still in the Philippines studying in HS. I associate this name-identity with my Filipino life.
I have gone through 2 avatars before settling for a close-up of my pet cat. My earlier ones were quite dark because I felt very angry then, now I have calmed down. So I chose my cat as my avatar because of how relaxed he always seems to be.

Hi Betong- nice avatar. So now, are you relaxed in Kyoto? Hope you are adjusted to life in Japan compared to Europe’s life style… I think they are really totally different in so many ways…
But anyways… yes, sometimes I wonder why this guy or girl chose this name…
Mine is simple…City_Rabbit … it is obvious…

Actually, Betong and I appear to have similar reasons…

My parents and close friends used to call me EPS when I was still a child. This nickname evokes memories of my happy childhood…

When I registered on this site I wasn’t aware that the log in name = handle names.  'Must have missed that info. somewhere. (Guilty of skimming again??):open_mouth: So, 'never had the chance to think of one. Inihaw, okay na rin - reminds me of fond memories sa dati kong trabaho.

Puting Tainga pala ay kuripot ang meaning.

pero sa pagkakaalam ko may isa pa itong ibig sabihin, malimit ko kasing marinig sa mga matatanda:

Puting Tainga - Ayaw paligaw ang mga kapatid, anak or kamag-anak sa kaibigan o kakilala

crister - name ng second child ko and my first son

Juice ko! May ibang meaning pala ang Puting Tainga. Akala ko all the while eh, white ear ang meaning ng name ni Puting Tainga dahil white ang ears niya or ang isang tenga niya. Iyon pala kuripot ang meaning. :stuck_out_tongue:
