Whenever I spent my summers in Legazpi City, Bicol. We would often catch tutubi’s like every kid.
But, there, this is one thing I learned. If you get two tutubi’s, hold them by their wings and let them face one another, they’ll fight each other by biting each other till one takes off the jaw of the other.
Gross.
Mean.
But, found that really cool. In a very dog eats dog kinda way.
My lolo had two mango trees, the indian mango type (the same family as the very expensive ones from Okinawa) and they were infested by salagubang. We used to catch them and keep them in shoe boxes. Then they become… our pets. We make them play out wrestling matches (Andre the Giant vs Superfly) or they become Secret Agents, crossing wires in our sink or the stairs (where we would tie strings all over the stairs, attaching them to the iron fixings. They usually disappear in the morning after my Lola’s tidying up).
Our summers where often spent in Legazpi City when I was in elementary school to get out of the heat of Quezon City, then I grew up and discovered girls…
Man, miss being a kid. But then again, don’t really miss the homework:rolleyes: .

Well, can’t blame you. It’s a strong triple espresso (if you like coffee, you should try it, it’s an italian brand - Lavazza). And the toast, just plain butter and red cheddar cheese.
But, Nile, well that’s completely another ballgame. And just wanted to add that he actually doesn’t want to be called cute, he says that he is handsome. Not cute. Handsome.

Hi Stanfie! (cute pet name…)
I, ofcourse, would rather have the beans unground and grind them myself before making espresso. But here in Japan, I do not have an espresso machine with a built-in grinder so I just buy the coffee in bean form and grind them at the スーパ (supermark et).
I prefer Lavazza, the standard one with the gold cover is my fave.

I find this funny because I used to play with spiders when I was a kid.

Very creative ka talaga. Shall I show them your macho photo – 'yong mala-bodybuilder mong katawan? Hihihi! :hihi:

Maruchan, I think the reason why stray cats are fatter than pet cats is that strays here in Japan are usually fed by people from the neighborhood and so may have several meals a day. And Aby’s like Nile are usually lean and muscular (like me:)).

Thank you, Yosakoi-Soran! Enjoy talaga ako dito sa thread na ito ni Janer – a place where you can share all your 22B photos.
Okay lang na wala ka pang ma post na “22b” they will come to you one of these days…I’m sure
Para sa mga taong may entomophobia (insect phobia) parang nakakatoko isipin na thousands of tutubi will come visit me one of these days. Hehehe!

That means I will croak first before she does. :yikes:

No, it’s not a pink brassiere.
It’s beige. Just wanted to look like a tutubra.

What I know is those neighborhood strays that are taken care of by the local people have a little nip or cut at the edge of their ear (I’ve seen them mostly on the right ear) to show that they been sterilized and have received the proper vaccines.

Maruchan,
Pwedeng ipa-adopt ko sa 'yo si B-Ko? I know she’ll be in good hands with you. You can teach her Tagalog and Nihongo. Ingles lang and alam n’ya and so far she knows about 50 words.
Seriously, if I don’t have other choice and can’t bring her back to U.S. because I’m not staying here permanently, would you be interested in adopting her?

stanfordmed,
Singit lang. According to the Animal Quarantine Service of Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (http://www.maff-aqs.go.jp/english/ryoko/ta.htm), in taking birds OUT of Japan:
“There will be no quarantine inspection conducted in Japan unless the destination country has any specific requirements for entry.”
It also says there that you just need to confirm the requierments with the U.S. Embassy. Good luck.

Thanks Dax,
So far I’ve secured all the requirements from U.S. Mahirap talaga dito if you don’t speak their language.
Problema ko ay airline that will allow me to bring her in-cabin. So far JAL is the one that allows bird as carry-on in cabin, not cargo. I’m still awaiting their call for approval (keeping my fingers crossed). I’ve called almost all airlines, but most accept dogs and cats in-cabin only. Bakit kaya hindi pwede ang ibon?

According to http://www.ana.co.jp/int_svc/rakunori/pet/index.html, starting 1 Aug 2005 hindi na pwedeng mag-sama ng pets sa cabin ng ANA Int’l flights, with the exception of seeing-eye or service dogs. Sayang binago na nila.
Sana ma-appove yung request mo sa JAL.

stanfordmed, I’ve been talking to hubby, showing him pictures of your bird and manipulating him to warm up to the idea of adopting your bird. No luck yet. But I will keep at him. He said that parrots are too noisy and he’s a bit worried. One of my big concerns is that we travel together at least once a year – I don’t think we can afford a bird-sitter here in Japan. But keep us posted, okay?

Actually, Maruchan, my bird is not noisy unlike other birds. She think she’s human, so she doesn’t really squawk. She talks more than anything, whistles and copy sounds such as car alarm, phone rings, beeps of appliances, dog bark, little bird sounds, etc. She only starts talking when you’re up and about and doesn’t talk when she sees you sleeping or if no one’s around. Except in the morning when she wants to get out of her cage. She calls with a soft cheep.
Thanks for the thought though.
I found out yesterday that she’ll have to be quarantined for a month in a USDA facility if I bring her back and no visitation allowed. :weep: http://atypically.net/smilies/cry.gifI’m so worried - I tossed and turned and even had nightmares last night. I just spoke with the head of the quarantine division and she stated that even a senator called her one time asking for exception but she will not budge. No other choice talaga - eventhough they think that pet birds are 90 percent safe from Avian Flu, it’s the regulation and they’re not taking chances.http://atypically.net/smilies/cry.gif:weep:
The good news is she’s in good health - passed the health exam today and will be getting her health cert. in our mail box to be hand delivered by the vet - dito pala nakatira sa tower yong vet na pinuntahan namin sa Yokohama Kotorino Byoin sa Kanagawaku Koyasudori. What a coincidence!
Next thing to do is apply for import permit, reserve a space at the quarantine facility and pay processing and quarantine fees in advance, provide port clearance to the airline, reserve a plane ticket for me and my bird, provide documents to Narita airport quarantine officer, etc., etc. Good thing I already have the US Fish and Wildlife Permit and the CITES re-export permit. Salamat Andres!

Good morning to you, too, Yosakoi-Soran!

Actually, I like much better than the first.

Beautiful… Mt. Fuji :king: Very Romantic  :yesyes:Thanks Yosakoi .

@janer,
Keep it up!

Good idea, Maruchan, salamat! Sabay hanap na din ng pwedeng frame.:)
Salamat Andres! Next time i-interbyuhin ko muna bago piktyuran.

In keeping with the animal on a sunny day theme, here is one I took of in Arashiyama in the western mountains of Kyoto when my parents came to visit.
Note: My parents came to visit. They are humans. This is a monkey, not human. We went to visit a monkey park. Not my monkey parents coming to visit me.
But I am a cat.

NB. This is a female, as you can see her mammary protuberances (nipples), so don’t think that the monkey is playing with his banana… BTW, monkey’s taught to ‘play with their banana’ do it endlessly without bothering to eat or sleep that finally they die of… errr, playing with their bananas. Hmmmm.

Nice, Hotcake! Thanks for sharing.
Fuji from our veranda. It’s really a nice feeling. :yippee:

hotcake,

@ ning2
hello ning2, totoo iyan sinabi mo.

Betong, that monkey probably needs a bra. There’s a warm biz bra (posted by andres) on this page (http://www.timog.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113 6&page=4).
http://www.timog.com/gallery/files/5/stamen.jpg

Yes! I also saw this news item. Waiting for another one to keep my stamen and my two beans warm. Besides putting them in the microwave.
Maybe just having that girl in the picture could keep me warm. Even my stamen… (Sorry, PG13 comment ulit).
Nice picture Reon. Again flower power rules.:cowboy:

Oi salamat, Reon!
