hello Houseboy,
Meron nang natto ngayon na “niowanai natto” as the name implies—odorless. Pag-sanay ka sa Natto, then gradually shift to the pungent kind.

Go to a supermarket and buy the pinakamahal.

Also, most Japanese don’t agreee with this, but ketchup goes well with natto.
Mayonnaise is good, too.

In case you like kimchi(korean food), kimchi and natto goes very well.
This is a popular menu in some Izakayas.

Just as Puting Tainga just said natto goes well eith kimchi. Actually had that for dinner tonight. Made a salad with moroheiya (モロヘイヤ) le aves, natto and kimchi.
That and Filipino bifstek woth onions.

Another thing we do with natto is have it with toast in the morning. Just natto and toast.:bouncy:

I will have to try it again - I still can’t seem to acquire its taste.
I know it is a very healthy food - my husband eats it everyday…
I hope to be able to eat natto soon.

I think I had a phobia…The first time I tried it, I bought the three pack set - I did not know how to eat natto - but I wanted to try it - can you believe I ate the 2 packs without rice…? Until I was going to open the third pack…the smell just got into my brain…

Hi mr.white ear…I haven’t tried this natto with ketchup, but surely I will try and mix some, but tell you one thing, which is really good… try “NATTO OMELET”, it is sooooo delicious…
you will never stop eating that…first make an omelet… and mix the natto with choipped long onion, just mix it until the whity sticky portion comes out and then put it on top of your
scrambled eggs and wrap it, just like an omelet…at the top of that sprinkle some “katsuobushi” and a little bit “shoyu” it depends on your taste of amount…or maybe you would like mayonnaise instead of soysauce…I think that would be a good combination too…

you see, you don’t have to go to izakaya just to eat some varieties of “natto making” try this
and let me hear your story…and I will give you another tip.

I’ve tried zaru soba with natto and half-boiled egg (served with tsuyu, wasabi and nori). It didn’t have any smell and tasted okay, but could not finish the whole bowl because the slimy consistency got to me. :open_mouth:

sabi nga nila…sanayan lang daw…kahit minsan "amoy…paa"by ruby moreno…

hey kalypso, subukan mo! be sure to mix the natto with mayonnaise, mustard & the shoyu mix na kasama sa pack ng natto. mix it well…mga 20 round strokes, i guess till it becomes sticky then place this mix on your sliced bread, put some slices of jalapeno or sprinkle some chili powder , if youre fond of hot/spicy food or non at all if youre not…then toast it ! dont mind the smell!...its healthy…wala lang yan sa kalingkingan ng durian :grinny: :brush: ka lang after eating it baka maabutan ka pa nang husband mo himatayin sa “tadaima kiss” nya. hehehe!

Hi guys -
Today I tried Natto again…

My husband reminded me that when he was a kid in his hometown up north,
he used to eat Natto with sugar - which was popular there.
He said, since you are like a “kid” - maybe you will like it…

So, I put sugar in my natto and mixed the soy sauce too -
it turned out to me “edible” -

Also, tried natto with umeboshi- good!

I ate 1/4 of the box which is a BIG step for me…

Next time - I will try to eat more… but for now… that was my second challenge.:toast:
