Photo submission requirements
The following photographs must be submitted with each application:
In addition, please refer to the examples of appropriate photos and inappropriate photos below when submitting photos that meet the standards.
If an application is submitted using an inappropriate photograph that does not meet the specified standards, you will be asked to take a new photograph.
Photo dimensions
- Photo size: 4cm long, 3cm wide
- A photograph of the applicant only
- The dimensions of the part excluding the edges must meet the dimensions shown in the diagram on the left. (Facial measurements are from the top of the head (including hair) to the tip of the chin)
- No hat and facing forward
- No background (including shadows)
- The photo should be clear
- Must have been taken within 6 months prior to the date of submission
- A document with your name written on the back (excluding cases where you print the photo directly into the photo attachment section of the application form and submit it (note))
(Note) Please check the page for each application procedure to see if it is possible to print photos directly onto application forms, etc.

(Note) It is acceptable if your face is covered with a cloth or other material as long as it is clearly visible.
If you are covering your face with a cloth or other material for religious or medical reasons, we ask that you submit a statement (optional form).
It is difficult to identify a person
Significantly different from normal facial expression
The background is dark, making it difficult to identify the outline.
Blurred due to out of focus or camera shake
There is a shadow on the face
